  • Nov 7/8 Annual Pumpkin Drop 
  • Silvercreek Glider Club shall hold its annual pumpkin drop event on Nov 7 with a rain date of Nov 8. Operations to begin PROMPTLY AT 11 AM.
  • Pumpkins will be dropped from the back seat of a Schweizer 2-33A glider.
  • To participate, bring your own pumpkin bomb and bring the fee of $25 per each attempt. You may make as many attempts as you wish . At the end of the event, the closest bomb (or bombs) takes home $200. Second closest takes home $100. (Weight limitation of the 2-33A is 200 lbs) Bring your friends, bring your pumpkins and come out and test your bombadier skill!
  • A bonfire shall follow the day's event. Guests and members are encouraged to bring a side dish to share and drinks. The club will provide the meat. Members have been known to bring their favorite fall recipes to share, too.
  • Silvercreek Glider Club is located at 7410 Rockwell Road, New Douglas, Illinois. From I-55 in Illinois, take exit 30, Illinois Route 140. Turn east toward Greenville and proceed approximately 8.7 miles. Turn left on Rockwell Road and proceed approximately 1.7 miles. Turn right on Leuscher Road and drive about .5 miles. Turn left again on Rockwell Road. Silvercreek Glider Club is just ahead on the right. You can't miss the sign.
  • Confused? You can also put 7410 Rockwell Road, New Douglas, Illinois in your favorite GPS and follow directions.
  • Please park near our barn or pavilion. Plenty of space available. Overflow parking is along and behind the clubhouse.
  •   PLEASE DO NOT PARK ON THE TAXIWAY OR NEAR ANY AIRPLANES.

Welcome to Silvercreek Glider Club

The Silvercreek Glider Club is an educational soaring club located just north-east of St. Louis. The club operates at Silvercreek Gliderport year-round on weekends and holidays (other days by separate arrangements). 

Normally, members are on site each Saturday, rain or shine! Being an airport, there is always work to be done. All members participate in maintaining the facilities as their personla skills allow. If you can hand the mechanic a wrench or a carpenter a hammer, your skills are needed. Cooks are welcome too. After all, we have to eat, don't we? There is usually something on the grill or on the stove simmering.

You can become a one day member of the glider club, which entitles you to one familiarization flight with one of our glider pilots.

Please contact us for more information about gift certificates, one day membership, and club membership.  Our Club members currently fly a Schweizer 2-33A, a Grob Twin Astir, an ASK-21, a Schweizer 1-26E, and a Schweizer 1-34, along with numerous privately-owned aircraft.

The club's 250hp Piper Pawnee is the workhorse that tows our gliders into the sky above the rich farmland of Illinois.
